WEEK OF: SEPTEMBER 10 & 13 – 16, 2021
THEME: WELCOME TO SCHOOL!

Welcome to Perry Park Preschool and the first Weekly Update of the school year.
Each week you will receive an email containing the weekly update which lists activities and events for the upcoming week(s).

The first weeks of school will focus on introducing the children to the rules and routines of the classroom and the playground. The children will be learning new songs to sing for greeting hello, clean-up time and good-bye. They will have the opportunity to explore many interest centers in the classroom including blocks, dramatic play, play dough, puzzles, and the science area.

Art exploration will include painting at the easel, using scissors and glue sticks, painting with water colors and decorating a place card for snack time.

WEEK OF: SEPTEMBER 20 – 24, 2021
GETTING TO KNOW YOU!

This week at Perry Park the children will continue to explore new centers in the classroom. Circle time activities will include singing songs and playing games to help learn the names of our teachers and new friends. Other friendship activities will include creating a friendship heart for the classroom, finger painting with friends and painting Bag Buddies (which the children will take home at the Open House).
Also, this week we will begin our letter of the week activities with A is for APPLE.

There are many reminders and requests……any questions please call or see a teacher anytime!

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:
*Wear name-tags for the first week of school.

*Clearly label backpacks and be sure to keep a complete change of clothes inside.

* Lunch Bunch begins on Wednesday 9/22. There is space available to sign up.
Please see the notice in your orientation packet for more information.

*PPP will provide snacks for the first few weeks. Daily snacks are listed on the snack calendar found in the orientation packet. Each child will use their own water bottle for snack time. Please clearly label and provide water only.

*The October snack calendar will be available to sign-up next week.

THEME: A TIME TO SHINE
WEEK OF: MAY 24 – 28, 2021
This is the last SHARING WEEK for the school year! The children may bring in
an item of their choice on their scheduled sharing day.
Other activities for the week include using side walk chalk outdoors, playing shape, letter and number games to reinforce our skills and wearing red, white and blue on Tuesday, 5/25 and Friday, 5/28 for some Patriotic fun!

We will end the school year in a special way with theme days the children will enjoy. There is a daily theme and related activities planned.

Children may wear their pajamas to school on camping day.

It’s hard to believe this is the last update for the school year! It is wonderful to see how much the children have grown and learned and truly enjoyed their time in preschool. They are a wonderful group of children who continually amaze us! We want to thank all of the families for your help and support throughout this school year. It has been another great year at Perry Park! Enjoy the summer!

IN THE SMALL, SMALL POND
WEEK OF: APRIL 12 – 16, 2021
We’ll read, In the Small, Small Pond by Denise Fleming this week and learn what can be found in a pond. Our center activities will include painting dragonflies and ducks, learning about the life cycle of a frog and the letter of the week activity is W is for worms.

HAT’S OFF (career week)
WEEK OF: APRIL 26 – 30, 2021

This is a SHARING WEEK. The children may bring in an item related to any job they like on their scheduled sharing day. Additional activities for the week include practicing a fire drill, playing instruments in the dramatic play area, painting with combs and brushes, and completing a When I Grow Up writing activity. The letter of the week activity is X is for xylophone.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:
*April 19th -23rd – Enjoy April school vacation week!

*Information and registration forms for our summer program will come home the week of 4/26.
The two summer sessions will be held July 12th – 15th and July 19th – 22nd. Each session meets Monday – Thursday from 9:00-1:00. Children will bring a lunch and snack will be provided. The cost for each session is $150 per child.

* A summer sign-up sheet will be out at arrival time. Please sign if interested to give us an idea of how many children would like to attend.

*Mark your calendars! Picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11th with Hockmeyer Studios. This is for individual photos. More information will come home as the date nears.

*We are planning an outdoor graduation for the Yellow Apples for Tuesday,

June 15th @ 9:30. (rain date is 6/16 at 9:30). More details to follow…

WEEK OF: MARCH 22 – 26, 2021
THEME: BIRDS OF A FEATHER

The classroom activities this week will focus on a variety of backyard birds seen in our area. We have colorful birdhouses, feathers, and a bird’s nest to explore at the science center. We will create birds from geometric shapes and count and glue 10 items for a T is for ten letter of the week activity.

WEEK OF: MARCH 29 – APRIL 2, 2021
THEME: BLOWING IN THE WIND

Spring is in the air! And in the classroom this week as we explore a variety of weather conditions seen in springtime.

The letter of the week activity is U is for umbrella.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS, AND OTHER INFO:

*The Yellow Apples have been doing a great job of learning their addresses. The large envelope with their address printed on it is coming home this week for continued practice. Keep up the good work!

*The Red Apples have enjoyed listening to interactive stories using the flannel board. The favorites so far are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

*Progress reports will be issued the last week of April.

*There are 2 WOW days scheduled for April. The Monday/Tuesday group may attend on Wednesday April 14th and the Thursday/Friday group may attend on Wednesday April 28th. Signup sheets will be available at arrival time.
