Theme: Old MacDonald’s Farm

This week’s activities will center on farm life. We will be discussing what grows on a farm, what animals live there, and what machinery is used. Some of the learning experiences will include:

-exploring the barn and animals in the block area

-completing large farm floor puzzles

-making butter for snack on Wednesday

-playing animal games at circle time

-creating a barn, and farm animals at the art tables and

-painting farm animals at the easel.

The letter of the week activity is Z is for zebra.

Music and movement experiences will have us singing Old MacDonald Had a Farm, The Farmer in the Dell, Baa-Baa Black Sheep, Down On the Farm by Greg and Steve and Laurie Berkner’s I love My Rooster and I Know A Chicken.


*Wednesday,May 1st is class picture day. 

Wednesday students will go to Fellowship Hall at 9:30 with their teachers for the picture. All others are asked to meet us there for the picture. Buying the picture is optional but we hope all children will come to be in the picture at 9:30!

*The May/June snack calendars are available to sign. May, June, July and August birthdays are listed on this calendar so please check for your child’s birthday snack day.

*A preschool survey is coming home today. We appreciate your responses and feedback on your child’s preschool experience at PPP.

This week our classroom will be busy with scientific activity! At circle time a variety of simple experiments will be conducted and during free choice time we will do a follow-up activity to enhance the learning experience. We plan to experiment with water, bubbles, magnets, and make a colorful volcano and slime in the sensory table!

We’ll experiment with crayon resist to make the letter X this week.


*Wear your favorite sports team apparel on Tuesday (9th) as we celebrate Opening Day at Fenway Park and discover -what’s inside a baseball?

*This is a good time to check the spare clothes in your child’s backpack.

Please be sure to include socks, underwear, and clothes for spring!

*The class photo will be taken on Wednesday, May 1st at 9:30. Order forms will be

sent home as the date nears. Wednesday students will go to Fellowship Hall with their classmates and teachers at 9:30; all others are asked to meet us there for the picture @ 9:30. Hope you will come as we love to have everyone in the picture!

Art Show 2019

This week we will have fun with a Dr. Seuss theme in honor of his birthday on March 2nd. Many schools recognize this each year on Read Across America Day.

At PPP we will read a selection of books each day and have activities planned related to the stories. Some of the Dr Seuss activities include:

-painting with green finger-paint

– using green play dough

-creating our own Cat in the Hat

-playing rhyming games to reinforce rhyming skills

-a one fish, two fish math activity and

-wearing certain colors or clothes each day- SEE BELOW-

*Monday wear green for Green Eggs and Hamday.

*Tuesday wear silly socks to school as we will be reading The Foot Book and Fox in Socks.

*Wednesday is silly hat/hair day as we’ll read The Cat in the Hat.

*Thursday is wear your pajamas to school day! And we look forward to a visit from Police Officer Jim Grenham on Thursday.

*Friday wear red and blue for One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

*The March snack calendar is attached. Send an email if you would like to sign up for one of the available days.

*We are collecting recyclable materials for an upcoming recycling theme. We can use empty tissue boxes, cereal boxes, egg cartons, newspaper, plastic bottle caps, and round oatmeal containers. Please send these in as soon as possible. Thank you!

WEEKLY UPDATES: January 2nd – 4th and 7th – 11th, 2019



Welcome back and best wishes for a happy and healthy 2019!

We have many fun learning experiences planned for our exploration of winter.

Circle time activities will include reading books about winter, snow, and arctic animals. We’ll go ice fishing with magnetic letters, make bird feeders and play winter charades. There will be a flurry of winter art experiences as we create cotton ball snow scenes, puffy paint snowmen and snow paintings. The sensory table will have snow and ice cubes to observe melting and music time will find us moving like snowflakes, dancing the “freeze dance” and singing winter songs. The words to two are on the reverse.

The letter activity is M is for mitten.


*When wearing snow boots, please send shoes or slippers in the backpack to change into once we’re inside. Wet snow boots make very slippery, wet floors!

*Check the spare clothes in your child’s backpack to be sure warm long pants, and socks are included.

*Snow pants may be worn onto the playground for snowy fun, and we’ll send them home at the end of the day. Please label all outerwear!

*Registration forms for the 2019-2020 school year have been sent home. Openings will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

*Enrollment will open up to new families after Friday, January 18th.

This week we will explore many aspects of good health. We will discover the importance of exercise, healthy habits and healthy foods.

We plan to…

-create a collage of pictures of healthy foods

-measure our heights on a growth chart in the classroom

-do yoga poses and the bean bag dance at music time

-finger-paint with shaving cream,

-paint with toothbrushes and learn this poem

I have a little toothbrush.

I hold it very tight.

I brush my teeth each morning,

And then again at night.

from 11:45- 1:00. The cost is $10 for pizza (from Nick’s of Groveland) juice and

Hoodsie cups. This is for Tuesday students.

*The Tot Yoga program run by Ms Sarah ended on October 30th. This was a great success and we hope to offer it again in the spring. We are also thinking of offering yoga in January one afternoon per week from 12:45-1:30 for preschoolers and a care giver. We welcome your input!! Theme: Autumn Leaves

Autumn is in the air and in the classroom as we explore this colorful season. At circle time we will talk about the signs of fall, the changes that fall brings and some of our favorite fall activities. We plan to paint with fall colors at the easel, practice scissor skills by cutting out leaf and pumpkin shapes and we’ll collect leaves from the playground to collage. Our sensory table will have mini pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn for exploration. A few of the books that we will be reading include:

*The Yankee Candle Fundraiser packets have been sent home. There are

additional order forms if anyone needs one. Please return all orders by

Monday 10/22.

* Our Halloween party will be held in Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, 10/31 at 9:30.

All PPP children are invited to attend with a parent/guardian. Regular preschool

class is not held that day. The party concludes with a Halloween parade outside in

front of the church @ 10:45. More information will come home as the date

nears. A signup sheet for donations of snacks and prizes for the party will be

out this week.

*There is pumpkin picking outing planned for Monday, October 22ndat 1:00 at

Roger’s Spring Hill Farm. There is a signup sheet for those interested in going.

The cost is $6.50 per person. Place your money in an envelope with your name on

it prior to Monday 10/22. This is always a fun trip so please join in!

August Update

I hope you are having an enjoyable summer. It’s hard to believe that back-to-school orientation is just a few weeks away!

Perry Park’s summer program was held for three weeks this past July. We all had a lot of fun and look forward to offering it next summer; July 8 – 25, 2019.

We are excited to announce that Sarah Perry will lead Tot Yoga at PPP this fall.

Children 18 months – 3 years, along with a caregiver, are invited to join. Sarah is a certified yoga instructor as well as an assistant teacher at PPP. The six-class session will be held on Tuesday mornings in Fellowship Hall from 9:30-10:15 for a cost of $60. The class begins on Tuesday 9/25 and ends on Tuesday 10/30. Please register on our website; perryparkpreschool.com or you may call the school to register.

Orientation visits for the fall program will be held Wednesday, September 5th and Friday, September 7th. Please come in anytime between 9:00 -11:00 with your child.

The children will have the opportunity to visit with teachers and friends and explore the classroom before the start of school. Parents will receive a handbook, a school calendar and a family directory as well as other information.

Please bring with you:

*completed enrollment and emergency forms. Be sure to list local contacts for emergency purposes- someone who can come to the school just in case you can not be reached.

*medical and immunization forms with the date of the lead tests clearly stated.

–No child will be able to start school without this information.

*two photos (4×6 or smaller) of your child to use in school to label his/her cubby and snack time place card and

* first tuition payment.

The teachers have been busy preparing the classroom and planning the curriculum in anticipation of the new school year. Bridget Grenham is the Yellow Apple group teacher (4&5- year olds).

I will assist the Yellow Apple group each morning. Ilene Kozdra is the Red Apple group teacher (3&4-year olds). Sherry DePaolo will assist the Red Apple group on Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternate Mondays. Sarah Perry will assist the Red Apple group on Wednesdays, Fridays and alternate Mondays. One of the great aspects of our program is that the staff works together in all areas of the classroom throughout the morning and comes to know every child on an individual basis. Please be sure to meet the teachers at orientation. They will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

During your orientation visit there will be information and a signup sheet for those interested in joining our Parent Group. The parent group organizes social events outside of the regular classroom setting. Please let me know if you would like to help plan the first group outing in October.

Mark your calendar! The annual Ice Cream Social and preschool Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. More information on this evening will come home in September.

At this time there are limited openings for the fall program with a waitlist for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please let me know if you need to make changes to your schedule or if you will not be attending PPP as planned. There is space available for Lunch Bunch which is held from 11:45-1:00 on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A signup sheet will be available during orientation for those who may like to sign up.

Lunch Bunch will begin on Wednesday, September 19th.

This week the activities in our classroom will focus on Valentine’s Day, friendship and the Post Office. Circle time activities will include reading books and discussing the importance of sharing, giving, loving and friendship. We will deliver Valentine cards to our friends’ mailbags and explore the Post Office set up in the dramatic play area. Other activities planned for the week include:

-playing musical hearts and other Valentine games
-playing musical hearts and other Valentine games
-sponge painting hearts
-making a Valentine card for our families
-letter R is for roses and
-learning Valentine songs and poems at music time. One the children love to
recite is: “I love you, I love you, I love you divine,
Please give me your bubblegum, you’re sitting on mine!”


*The ticket money for Madagascar is due by Friday February 16th. There are 4 extra tickets if anyone else would like to attend, please let me know!

*The dramatic play area will be set up as a Post Office this week. Any donations
of stickers, paper and envelopes would be appreciated. Thank you.

*At circle time this week the Yellow Apples will begin to learn their addresses and to recognize their address in print.

*Children are asked to bring in Valentine cards Monday 2/12, Tuesday 2/13 and Wednesday 2/14. To make distributing the cards easier please have your child
sign the cards, but do not address it to anyone on the outside. Also send in enough cards for your child’s entire group. There are 25 Yellow Apples and 15 Red Apples.

Weekly update: JANUARY 29 – FEBRUARY 2, 2018


This theme will take the children on a journey around the world. Each country or continent has something different to share. We plan to explore the music, languages and crafts from a variety of countries.
The letter of the week is P is for penguin.

The winter games in PyeongChang will be the focus of our learning experiences
this week. We will pretend to be Olympians as we walk on a balance beam, skate to music and climb through an obstacle course. We’ll conduct a fireworks- in- a- jar experiment at circle time and paint colorful Olympic rings and medals!
Also this week each child will decorate a Valentine bag in order to receive Valentine cards from their classmates next week.
The letter of the week activity is Q is for quarter.

*The February snack calendar is attached.
*The book order is due by Friday 2/9.
*There is a signup sheet for a pizza lunch on Wednesday, February 14th.
*The children may bring in Valentines cards to deliver to their classmates’
bags on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 2/12-2/14. Be sure to send in enough cards for your child’s entire group. There are 15 red apples and 25 yellow apples. Please leave the outside envelope blank for ease of delivery for the children and only sign the inside of the card.

*We have seats reserved for the NSMT performance of Madagascar on SaturdayMarch 31st for the 10 AM performance. The tickets are $12 per person and the ticket money is due by Friday, February 16th. There are a few extra seats reserved if you didn’t sign up and would like to join the group or if you have any family/friends who might like to come as well. Just let me know!
