FEBRUARY 24 – 28 and MARCH 3 – 7

THEMES: RECYCLING and READ, READ, READ!

2/24/2025 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, it’s easy to do!

You may hear us singing this song during recycling week as we learn about the importance of recycling. We’ll have fun painting and creating with recyclable materials and visiting the recycling center set up in dramatic play!

*A breakfast for parents will be held on Thursday 2/27 at 9:00.  After dropping off your child, come in and enjoy breakfast with other PPP parents!  (hosted by GCC).

3/3/2025  SHARING WEEK

The children may bring in a favorite book on their scheduled sharing day. When sharing their book with the group at circle time, each child will be encouraged to talk about the book they chose and show their favorite page.

This will be a colorful week of reading! Each day the books and classroom centers will focus on some of the children’s favorites, and we’ll wear the following –

Monday – Dr. Seuss – wear silly socks

Tuesday – Pete the Cat books by Eric Litwin – wear blue

Wednesday – Grumpy Monkey by Suzanne Lang- wear animal prints or orange and brown

Thursday – Eric Carle books – wear your most colorful clothes

Friday – The Dot by Peter Reynolds – wear stripes, dots, stars, any shapes!

 

The letter of the week activities are S is for Dr. Seuss and T is for tacos.

February Update

February 3 – 7, 2025
Theme: Wood Shop

Let’s build! And learn about tools and their uses this week…

Also, the children will decorate a Valentine bag to receive Valentine cards from their classmates. Valentine cards may be sent in any time now. The children will deliver the cards next week and bring their bags home on Thursday (13th ) and Friday (14th.)

The letter of the week activity is Q is for queen.

February 10th – 14th
Theme: Post Office and Valentines

If you are planning to send in Valentine cards with your child, please send in enough cards for your child’s entire group.

-There are 20 Yellow Apples.
-There are 7 Red Apples

For ease of delivery, leave the outside envelope blank; this way the children will easily be able to deliver them to each Valentine bag.

*We ask that no food items be sent in with the Valentine cards.

The letter of the week activity is R is for rocket ship.

REMINDERS and other info:

*Any contributions of envelopes, stickers, cards, and small pads of paper for use in the dramatic play post office would be greatly appreciated!

*Tasty Tuesday is on for Tuesday 2/11 from 12:00-1:00! Sign up to join in the fun!
The pizza will be ordered on Friday 2/7 – so payment is due by that date.

*The March snack calendar is available to sign.

* There is a parent breakfast scheduled for Friday, 1/31 and Thursday 2/6.
After drop-off, come inside and enjoy breakfast with other PPP parents.

*The Yellow Apple group has started home visits with the class book buddy,
Grumpy Monkey. All Yellow Apples will have a turn to bring Grumpy Monkey home for 2 nights. We are so excited and can hardly wait for our turn!

*February 17 th – 21 st is school vacation week. Enjoy the week!

(jump up) BLAST OFF!

We will blast off into space as we explore the outer space theme. We’ll learn about planets, stars, constellations, space travel and more!

Many of our astronomical creations will be on display at the Art Show! which will be held on Saturday, April 12th .
The letter of the week activities are O is for outer space and P is for planet.

*The week of January 27th – 31st is SHARING WEEK. The children may bring in an item related to the space theme on their scheduled sharing day.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:

*The Open House for new families was a success with new registrations coming in for the fall. Turn in your forms soon to receive your first-choice schedule!

*The Yellow Apple Group has started home visits with the class book buddy, Grumpy Monkey. All of the Yellow Apples will have a turn to keep the book buddy for 2 nights and write about their adventure. All are looking forward to their turn
with Grumpy Monkey!

*Barksdale studios has put together a small Valentine fundraiser for children who had their photos taken in the fall. There is a packet for you to view containing 36 Valentine cards with your child’s photo on them. The packets are $12, and the payment is made online to Barksdale. We’ll bring them out at arrival and dismissal time for families to see the packets. Participation is optional.

*Speaking of Valentines… in February the children may bring in Valentine cards for their classmates. Please send enough for your child’s entire group and we ask that no food items be sent in. There are 20 Yellow Apples and 7 Red Apples. For ease of distributing them, please leave the outside envelope blank and just sign inside the card. More information about Valentines will come in the next update.

*Preschool will not be held on Monday, January 20th for Martin Luther King, Jr. day.

January Update

Welcome back and best wishes for a happy, healthy 2025!

We have many fun learning experiences planned for our exploration of winter. Circle time activities will include reading books about snow, winter, and arctic animals. We will experiment painting with ice cubes and watercolors, explore the arctic animals and rice in the sensory table, cut out hats and mittens to decorate and make pinecone bird feeders.

Music time will find us moving like snowflakes, dancing the freeze dance, and singing winter songs.

The letter of the week activities are M is for mitten, N is for numbers.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:

– The February snack calendar will be available to sign at arrival time.

– Parent / Teacher phone conferences will be held in January. It’s not too late to sign up!

– Registration forms for the 2025 – 2026 school year will be sent home in January.
Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

– Tell your friends! An Open House for new families will be held on Saturday, January 11 th from 9:30-10:30. New families may begin registering at that time.

– Snow pants can be worn on the playground for warm, snowy fun, and we’ll send them home at the end of the day. Please label all outerwear.

– When wearing snow boots, please send slippers or shoes in the backpack to change into once we’re inside.

– There is no class on Monday, 1/20, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
