THEME: POND LIFE

We’ll read, In the Small, Small Pond, by Denise Fleming this week and learn what can be found in a pond. The learning experiences will include painting dragonflies and ducks, learning about the life cycle of a frog, and completing the alphabet with the activities Y is for Yoga and Z is for Zebra.

THEME: OCCUPATIONS

WEEK OF: APRIL 29 – MAY 3, 2024

This is SHARING WEEK! The children are asked to bring in an item related to
any occupation on their scheduled sharing day. Each child will also complete a “When I Grow Up” writing activity this week.

*The Art Show will be held on Saturday, May 4th!

Families and friends are welcome to come any time from 10:30 -12:00 to view our artistic creations. An Open House for new families will be held from 10-10:30.

*Calling all bakers! We will hold a bake sale during the art show. The proceeds will go towards the Curious Creature visit in May. A sign-up sheet will be posted at arrival time for those interested in baking something for the sale. Small items should come in baggies and will be sold for $1.00 per bag.

*Lunch Bunch will not be held on Friday, May 3rd, due to Art Show set-up.

*Mark Your Calendars! The class photo will be taken on Tuesday morning (May 7th) at 9:30. Weather permitting, we will gather on the church steps for the picture, otherwise it will be taken indoors in Fellowship Hall.

Yay-it’s Spring! The learning experiences for the week will center on this rejuvenating season!

APRIL 1 – 5 and APRIL 8 – 12, 2024

THEME: THE BIG RED BARN

Activities in the classroom will focus on farm animals, machinery, and farm products. The learning centers in the classroom will include:
-exploring the farm animals and barns in the block area,
-playing an animal sounds Lotto game,
-reading books about farms and completing farm puzzles.
Music time experiences will include singing Old MacDonald’s Farm, I love My Rooster, I Know a Chicken, Baa-Baa Black Sheep and BINGO.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:

*April 15th – 19th is April school vacation week, enjoy the week!
*The April snack calendar has been sent home. Soon the May/June snack calendar
will be available to sign. This is the last snack sign up for the year! Please let
me know if you have not been able to access the snack calendar and I will sign you
up for a snack day.
*All May, June, July, and August birthdays will be celebrated at snack time in May.
Please check the snack calendar for the date of your child’s celebration if you would
like to contribute to the birthday snack.
*Summer program information will come home after April vacation week. A signup sheet will be posted on the fence at arrival time for those who would like to attend.
*The summer sessions will be held Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 – 1:00;
July 15 – 18 and July 22 – 25. The cost is $180 per child, per week, with a maximum
group size of sixteen.

During our focus on art, we will explore a variety of artists, their tools, supplies, and where works of art can be seen ~ we will then create some masterpieces of our own! Our featured artist this year is Jackson Pollock. Each child will create a Pollock inspired splatter painting for the Art Show.

• Be sure to wear green on Friday, 3/15, for some St Patrick’s Day fun!

Letter of the week activities are V is for violets and W is for walrus.

March 18th – 22nd is SHARING WEEK. The children are asked to bring in an art-related item on their scheduled sharing day.

THEME: RECYCLING

We will learn about the importance of recycling and also have fun painting and creating with recyclable items. This week the children will make a Valentine bag to receive Valentine cards from their classmates.

Valentine cards may be sent in any time now. The children will deliver the cards to their classmates’ bags from February 12th – 14th. They will bring the bags home on Valentine’s Day and on Thursday 15th.

February 12th – 16th
THEME: POST OFFICE AND VALENTINES

If you would like to participate and have your child bring in cards, please send in enough cards for your child’s entire group.
There are 16 Red Apples and 18 Yellow Apples.
For ease of delivery, leave the outside envelope blank; this way the children will easily be able to deliver them to each Valentine bag.

We ask that no food items be sent in with the Valentine cards.

THEME: AUTHORSThis is SHARING WEEK. The children are asked to bring in a favorite book on their scheduled sharing day.

• The Yellow Apple group has started home visits with the class book buddy, Knufflebunny. All Yellow Apples will have a turn to bring Knufflebunny home for 2 nights. We are so excited and can hardly wait for our turn!
