IN THE SMALL, SMALL POND
WEEK OF: APRIL 25- 29, 2022
We’ll read, In the Small, Small Pond by Denise Fleming this week and learn what can be found in a pond. Our center activities will include painting dragonflies and ducks, learning about the life cycle of a frog and the letter of the week activity is Q is for Queen.

PLANT A GARDEN
WEEK OF: MAY 2 – 6, 2022 (Monday, May 2nd @ 9:30 is the class picture)
“Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?” This familiar nursery rhyme sums up this week’s learning experiences on gardens. We will plant flowers and seeds on the playground and in the classroom, learn the names of garden tools and discover what plants need to grow.
The letter activity is R is for rabbit.

BACKYARD BUGS
WEEK OF: MAY 9 – 13, 2022
What type of bugs do we see outside? Let’s find out this week as we explore a variety of insects and learn their characteristics and ways these creatures are important in nature. We will observe the new Painted Lady Caterpillars in the science area and keep you posted on their metamorphosis.

The letter activity is S is for spider.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:

*MONDAY MAY 2ND IS THE CLASS PICTURE! Order Forms have been emailed to all the families.
Monday students will go with their teachers to the church steps at 9:30.

All other children are asked to meet at the church steps for the class picture. Purchasing the picture is optional, but we would love to have all the children in the picture!
(in case of inclement weather the picture will be taken in Fellowship Hall)

*The summer program will be held July 11h – 14th and July 18th – 21st. Each session meets Monday – Thursday from 9:00-1:00. Children will bring a lunch and snack will be provided. The cost for each session is $160 per child.

*A summer sign-up sheet will be out at arrival time. Please sign if interested to give us an idea of how many children plan to attend. Enrollment is open to children currently attending PPP. Siblings and new families may join the wait list and will be placed based on availability. Signups are first come/first served.

*The session fee and registration form is due by Friday, May 20th.

*The May/June snack calendars are available to sign. All May, June, July and August birthdays are listed to celebrate summer birthdays. Please see a teacher with any snack questions.

We will blast off into space as we explore the outer space theme. We’ll learn about planets, stars, constellations, space travel and more!

The letter of the week is O is for Outer Space.

*The week of March 28th – April 1st is a SHARING WEEK. The children may bring in an item related to space on their scheduled sharing day.

*The April snack calendar has been sent home. May/June will be the final snack calendar for the year. Please let me know if you have not been able to access the snack signup sheet and I will sign you up for a snack. All summer birthdays will be listed on this snack calendar.

*The raffle baskets will be on display in the preschool foyer during the week prior to the Art Show. Raffle tickets may be purchased at this time or during the Art Show.

*Please tell your friends who are looking for preschool for the fall! …new families are welcome to attend the Art Show and may have a tour of the school and receive registration information.

PERRY PARK PRESCHOOL UPDATE

March 7 – 11, 2022 Theme: Recycling Art
March 14 – 18, 2022 Theme: In the Art Studio

Art is an expressive and aesthetic activity that can be enjoyed throughout life. It is a theme children especially enjoy. For the next two weeks the children will explore a variety of artists, their tools and supplies. We will also discover where works of art can be seen. We will create art inspired by Van Gogh and Monet and by using recyclable materials that inspire us. These masterpieces will be on display at the Art Show on April 9th.

The letter of the week is N is for numbers.

**Two date changes to note:
-Outer space SHARING WEEK is moved to the week of March 28th.

-Our class group picture date is moved to Monday, May 2nd. Weather permitting; we will meet on the church steps at 9:30 for the picture. Details will be provided as the date nears.

*Be sure to wear green on 3/16 and 3/17 for some St. Patrick’s day fun!

*EEC has issued several new protocols to guide us when children have contracted COVID or are considered a close contact. Please call the school to notify us of these situations and we can direct you to the current protocol. We do have tests available at school.
