Open House and Ice Cream Social

Please join us…
On Tuesday, October 4th
From 6:00 – 7:00

Families are invited to visit the classroom, meet the teachers and other families during this informal evening.
Photographs of the children will be displayed, along with
artwork and the children will take home their
Bag Buddies.

Members of the Groveland Congregational Church along
with the staff of Perry Park Preschool invite you to
attend an Ice Cream Social in Fellowship Hall
held from 6-7PM.

*The Red Apple group and their families may visit the classroom from 6:00-6:30 and follow with
ice cream upstairs.

*The Yellow Apple group and their families are invited to enjoy ice cream from 6:00-6:30 and visit the classroom from 6:30-7:00.

Children often enjoy taking their families on a tour of
the classroom. Please feel welcome to visit whether or not you plan to attend the ice cream social.

WEEKLY UPDATES: February 14 – February 20 and February 28 – March 4

THEME: GOOD HEALTH WEEK
(Please note the weekly theme has changed from the master list)

This week the dramatic play area will be set up as a medical office as we learn about ways to keep healthy. We will read a Weekly Reader on dental health and create a medical bag along with a healthy foods collage. At music time we’ll do Yoga and Dr. Jean’s letter-cize!
The letter of the week activity is L is for lizard.
*Monday 2/14 the MWF group will take home their Valentine bags.

*February school vacation week is 2/21 -2/25. Enjoy the week!

FEBRUARY 28 – MARCH 4, 2022
THEME: READ, READ, READ

This is a SHARING WEEK. The children may bring in a favorite book on their scheduled sharing day.
Each day we will read a selection of books by favorite authors and the activities in the classroom will relate to the author of the day.

Monday – Wear green and we’ll read Froggy books by Jonathan London.

Tuesday / Wednesday- Wear silly socks! We’ll celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday by reading several of his books and making our own Cat in the Hat hats.

Thursday – wear pajamas to school! We’ll read a collection of Mouse books by Ellen Stoll Walsh. The letter of the week activity is M is for mouse.

Friday – wear blue to school for Pete the Cat day.

WEEKLY UPDATE

THEME: A VISIT TO THE AQUARIUM

JANUARY 24th – 28th and JANUARY 31ST – FEBRUARY 4TH

This theme will find us exploring the sea life and habitat found in an aquarium.
Sharks, crabs, jellyfish, sea turtles, and seahorses are among the sea life included in our aquarium experiences.
We plan to create an aquarium display which all can view at the Art Show on
April 9th. Other activities will include seashells in the science center, ocean books and puzzles, and an ocean creature matching game.

The letter of the week activity is J is for jellyfish.

January 24th -28th is a sharing week. The children are asked to bring in an item related to the aquarium theme on their scheduled sharing day.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS, AND OTHER INFO:

*The February snack calendar has been sent home.

*Looking ahead… the children are welcome to bring in Valentine cards for their classmates. The T/Th group will deliver Valentines on Thursday 2/10. There are 15 children in that group. The MWF group will deliver Valentines on Monday 2/14. There are 20 children in that group. Please send in enough cards for your child’s entire group. Cards may be sent in ahead of time.

*Please leave the outside envelope blank for ease of delivery and your child may sign their name inside the card.

December Update

It’s the holiday season…

There is excitement in the air and in the classroom as the children eagerly anticipate the upcoming holidays. There are many holiday learning experiences planned for this festive time of year. Circle time activities and discussions will focus on our families’ customs and holiday traditions and we will explore holiday traditions from other countries as well. Center time activities will include creating holiday paintings and decorations, reading holiday books, making a musical instrument, playing the dreidel game and reading a holiday issue of My Big World magazine.
At music time we will sing Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Rudolph, the Dreidel song and other popular songs of the season.

Also, all the children will be busy working on a special gift for their families.
The letter of the week activities are G is for gift and H is for Holly.

December 13th – 17th is a sharing week…the children are asked to bring in a holiday treasure on their scheduled sharing day.

REMINDERS, REQUESTS AND OTHER INFO:
*We are collecting empty water bottles for a musical craft on Thursday and Friday, December 9th and 10th.

*Families are invited to attend an outdoor holiday get-together on Wednesday, December 22nd at 9:30. In conjunction with the Groveland Police Dept. we will be collecting unwrapped toys for a Toys for Tots donation. More information will come home as the date nears.

*The January snack calendar is available to sign.
*Progress reports will be issued mid-January. There will be a sign up sheet to schedule a phone conference with your child’s teacher.

* Registration forms for the 2022/2023 school year will come in December for returning students.

*Returning families will receive their first-choice schedule when forms are returned by January 15th. Following that date, new families are welcome to enroll. There is an Open House scheduled for new families on Saturday,
January 22nd from 9:30-10:30.
